Stage hypnosis – Real or Fake?
Stage hypnosis is an entertainment hypnosis, a hypnosis show, a hypnosis that perform in a stage in front of an audience for the purposes of entertainment.
There are many uses of hypnosis (hypnotherapy – weight loss hypnosis, conversational hypnosis, etc.), but many people introduce to hypnosis through seeing it on stage, and then wonder, is it real or fake?
A modern stage hypnosis performance usually delivers a comedic performance, Once the subject has been hypnotized, the stage hypnotist begin telling the subject to do various things, the funny things like cluck like a chicken, dance like ballerina etc.
So, is the stage hypnosis real? The answer is there are some that real that use real hypnosis techniques. And there are some that fake. The fake one usually use actors that planted among the audience. While stage hypnosis is often faked for dramatic effect, a good stage hypnotist usually uses both real and fake hypnosis.
One of the hypnosis techniques that usually used on stage hypnosis is participant selection. Selecting a volunteer on a stage hypnosis is not an entirely random process. The hypnotist perform few preliminary test among the volunteer, a test like hands stuck together and a suggestion that they cannot be separated. This process needed to find which one from the volunteer that “more easy” to hypnotized.
While on some bad fake stage hypnosis, we could easily find out and tell that the stage hypnosis show is fake, on some of good “fake stage hypnosis” with good actor is not so easy to tell whether the show is real or fake.
