One handed card cut or also known as charlier cut is a method of cutting a deck of playing cards with one hand.

It is the same like basic cards cut, you just break a deck of playing cards into two pile and then move the lower pile over to the top. But instead using two hands or using a table as a help, you done it in one hand.

One hand cut usually use only for a demonstration of skill (card flourish). It is not intended for magic card tricks. But you can use it as a help to camouflage a card tricks. In card tricks performance, sometimes your audience want to check the cards after you perform the trick. Then if you want to hide the top card, you could just make some distraction with one hand while your other hand perform a quick “one hand cut” to bring the top card to the middle of the card decks.
